1964 Alfa Romeo Giulia TI

Sale Price: SOLD

Produced in November 1964 and delivered new in 1966 to Pymble NSW, this Giulia Ti represents the earliest type 105.09 model, meaning a RHD with floor shift and this is confirmed by the heritage certificate which accompanies the car.

A significant amount of work has been undertaken on the car by the current owner and it is now for sale due to the immediate need for space along with commitments to other projects.

The original 1600cc motor has been replaced by a later Alfetta 1.8 unit fitted with twin webers which gives the car a healthy increase in power and torque. It also makes for an entertaining drive with the 5-speed gearbox a delight to use and the Webers having been rebuilt providing a throttle response that is spot on. The engine bay is spotless and presents beautifully.

Out on the open road the Ti is agile, responsive and its handling lives up to its reputation as one that humbled many sports cars of its time.

The body of the car was recently striped, and its condition was excellent with no signs of significant rust or rot and no metal work required.  It was then resprayed in its original Bluette colour which we think is just stunning and suits the car incredibly well. At distance the paint presents fine however on closer inspection it shows surface imperfections and some untidy finishing. It can of course be left as is or can be attended to by the new owner. The brightwork has all been polished looks original and presents really well with no signs of significant fading or pitting. One small area on the front overrider has lost its surface and shows rust but that’s being picky.

All the lights and lenses are in perfect condition and the indicators retain their strong orange colour.

The interior front seats are the original grey cloth and are charming. The have been cleaned and look wonderful and they are also incredibly comfortable to sit in!  The rear seats are vinyl and look like they have been dyed black but to a high standard. The stitching on 2 seams has given way in 2 small areas but this could be easily attended to. New carpets have been fitted throughout and the cloth headlining is in excellent order.

The driver’s view is excellent, and the cabin feels light and airy and a nice place to be. The dashboard has been refurbished and is a real feature of the car. Its original ‘strip’ speedo is characterful, and everything works as it should. An aftermarket oil pressure gauge has been fitted which is a sensible addition. The paintwork on the dash has been buffed and polished and looks like new. The top of the dash has been refurbished and again presents wonderfully.

The seat belts are missing and need fitting along with the boot mat, but these can be jobs to tidy up and finish the car.

The wheels have been refurbished with the correct profile tyres recently fitted. Mechanically the car is ready to go with significant work including all new front suspension and brakes.

Overall, this represents a lovely early Ti with desirable floor shift and in a great colour with a lot of work done. It needs a few small items to finish it and the paint work although not perfect can be left as is or further improved by the next owner should they wish to. The car will be sold unregistered but freshly serviced and ready to go.

We think these earlier Ti’s and Berlina’s have been in the shadows to long and are now being recognised for the great cars they are. An attractive car for an attractive price.
