1951 MG TD

Sale Price: SOLD

One of our long term customers is wishing to part with this truly beautiful 1951 MGTD in its correct autumn red with red interior which is a rare original RHD Australian delivery.

According to the MG Car Club T Register the car was built in March 1951 for export to Australia and has its correct XPAG engine still in place.

The paint and body are in excellent order and benefiting from a recent full body repaint with only a few hundred miles driven in the car since the work was finished. The original colour suits the car well with a deep shine and contrasts perfectly with the brightwork.  The interior whilst not new is in excellent order. The dials and gauges are spot on.

The brightwork is in excellent condition and presents as new, with the front and rear bumpers being recently re-chromed. The wheels are repainted, spotless and the tyres fresh.

Classic Car Market performed the rebuild of this TD over a 12 month period once the paint and bodywork had been completed, which also included extensive work to the brakes, suspension and other key areas. We know this car well and it’s a delight to drive.

The current owner has owned the car for the last 11 years and applied some sensible modifications to improve reliability and performance. This includes electronic points, fitting a later TF cylinder head with larger inlet and exhaust valves, later camshaft, stainless steel valves and guides, larger 1.5 inch carbs and Ralloy pistons.

The car comes with 2 sets of keys, a hood, tonneau cover and side screens too.

It just begs to be driven and it’s easy to understand why these cars were so popular in period.

This is a very beautiful TD and being a rare Australian delivered car with a substantial amount of work recently completed. We believe this is one of those cars that represents a value buy.

Available for viewing at our workshop.
