1962 Land Rover Series IIA

This early Land Rover Series 2A is a remarkable find. We believe given its serial number (25308957B) and specification, this makes it a later 61 or early 62 model. The current owner found it several years ago on a farm at North Star, near Goondiwindi stored in a dry shed. It shows this location still painted on its front guard as part of the original company who owned it. After purchase the current owner subsequently commenced a recommissioning with work including, brakes, seals, points, electricals, clutch master and slave cylinders, carb, new tyres, fuel tank, rear shocks, exhaust, muffler and many other items that are factory correct including detail points such as the light lenses. The owners circumstances have changed and he has decided to pass his Land Rover on to another enthusiast with only a few items left to be finished.
The paint is original and although worn shows a wonderful patina that is really appealing. The interior is correct with new upholstery to the seats in the original spec material. All the gauges work and look perfect to the eye. The engine bay although clearly aged is very original, serviced and performing as it should. It retains its original Solex carb.
Turn the key and the engine fires up easily. Out on the open road the gearbox and clutch works well and as expected with no issue. The engine pulls well without blowing any smoke.
Underneath is solid and shows no signs of any significant corrosion as you would expect from a life in a dry environment some way inland.
Included with the vehicle are an original owner’s instruction booklet, a sales brochure showing the variations of the model that were available at the time with their specifications, and the matching factory workshop manual. These are in excellent condition and incredibly rare and desirable. The original wheel brace and crank handle sit where they should in brackets behind the seats.
Overall, a charming and wonderfully preserved Land Rover which is a sympathetically recommissioned and lovely example. As they say they are only original once and this ticks a lot of boxes.
