1965 Jaguar S-Type
Sale Price: SOLD
Delivered new to New Zealand in 1965, this S Type Jaguar presents in its original Opalescent Silver Grey with red leather interior.
Like the E-type Jaguar the S Type was the first compact Jaguar saloon with independent rear suspension, giving it exceptional road holding and comfort. The bodywork was inspired by the Mk II in design but featured greater boot space and a higher roof line making for a much more comfortable and practical car.
Offered here is an original RHD car with the most desirable 3.8 litre engine along with manual gearbox and overdrive all supported with its Heritage Certificate.
The car comes with an extensive history of work dating back many years with invoices totalling over $30,000. The body of the car is in excellent condition and the colour of the paint suits the car setting off the chrome well. At distance the paint presents well however on closer inspection it shows surface imperfections we believe from reacting primer. It has been this way for many years and can of course be left as is or can be attended to by the new owner.
The engine and gearbox have both had work and the car has been well maintained, as well as the interior which has been expertly re-trimmed in leather with polished walnut and timber along with new carpets with totally correct and perfect dash instrumentation. The headlining is in superb order and the window chrome is spot on. The interior of this car really is a lovely place to be.
The wire wheels are in excellent condition and have seen little use since purchase.
Out on the road this car really is a gentlemen’s express and is incredibly quiet and comfortable to drive as it works through the gears with the 3.8 litre engine providing plenty of ‘go’.
This represents a very affordable entry to classic car ownership and is a lot of car for the money. An owners handbook accompanies the car along with it’s sought after original tool kit.
