The Ford Galaxie was produced locally in Australia from 1965 to 1969 and was offered as a 4-door sedan with a choice of 289 cu in (4.7 l) or 390 cu in (6.4 l) cid V8 engines.
Prior to local assembly, RHD full imports were sourced through select Australian Ford dealers, and by Ford of Australia for executive use. Australian assembled 1965–1968 models were sourced in CKD form from Ford of Canada.
We are informed that local build quantities of 1965–1972 Galaxies totalled just 4892 making these relatively rare cars.
We have the pleasure of bringing to market what can only be described as a stunning and cherished Galaxie with desirable 390 cu engine. The current owner has owned this car for some 30 years and has been meticulous in its care. If you want a wonderful example of this iconic Australian Ford, then this ticks all the boxes.
Our car was treated to a back to metal respray in the 90’s along with an engine rebuild. Since then, we are informed it has done some 20,000 miles as indicated on the odometer.
The paint and body are just excellent with only a few minor imperfections. The original Glasurit paint quality was clearly superb and has stood the test of time. All the panel gaps are perfect.
All the brightwork is in perfect order and sets the car off beautifully. The wheels look original, and the hub caps still hold their colour.
The interior of the car is just lovely and looks completely original, with everything as it should be. The original steering wheel greets you and the dash and dials are something that just looks perfect to the eye. The dash is perfect without any cracks, and all the seats are in great order without holes or tears. The carpet still retains its strong colour and show little wear. The dash and gauges look very sharp, and even the clock works perfectly!
The head lining is in fine condition with no sagging and the rear parcel shelf presents as new. The original ‘Ford Starting Instructions’ still accompany the car underlining the details this car presents with along with two sets of keys.
Turn the key and the engine fires up easily to a familiar Ford growl. Out on the open road this car is just superb, and the sense of comfort is quite amazing. The steering is accurate and smooth, and the braking is excellent, benefitting from the addition of disc brakes on the front wheels. As expected, the engine is very responsive and pulls and pulls and pulls! The sense of power is effortless.
The engine bay is clean and incredibly well kept. The boot is spotless, and a jack and car cover come with the car. Underneath is as good as it is on top.
These Australian Ford Galaxies are great cars, and finding one in this original but excellent condition is rare. One to buy and enjoy this wonderful Ford.
