1968 Alfa Romeo 1750 Berlina

Sale Price: Sold

This 1968 1750 Berlina is an original RHD Australian delivery which is confirmed by its Heritage certificate which accompanies the car.

Originally Bluette it had a colour change around 20 years ago when some significant restoration was carried out. It then sat for an extended period due to the passing of its owner and recently the new owner undertook its recommissioning.  This process still needs to be completed and the car is being sold due to a change of circumstances.

During the restoration work it had a colour change to Amaranto which suits the car well. At distance the paint presents well, however on closer inspection it shows surface imperfections we believe from reacting primer. It has been this way for many years and can of course be left as is or can be attended to by the new buyer.

The 1750 engine producing 116 bhp with the aid of its twin Webers it is in fine health. Recent work includes, new brake and clutch master cylinders, rebuild carbs, new carb mounts, general service, replacement of fluids and new tyres amongst other items.

The body is in solid condition with no corrosion. The boot floor is in excellent condition as is the fuel tank and spare wheel well. The boot is missing its lining.

All the stainless steel brightwork is in good order and sets the car off well with only some pitting evident.

The interior of the car is just lovely, with everything as it should be. The original steering wheel greets you and the dash and dials are something that just looks perfect to the eye. The carpets are rich in colour and present very well.

The seats have their original black vinyl coverings and have no signs of wear and they are comfortable and supportive which is what you would expect from a car designed to cater for the executive market. The head lining is original and shows age related blemishes but could be cleaned.

Turn the key and the engine fires up to a familiar Alfa growl. The 1750 engine is widely regarded as Alfa Romeo’s best and out on the open road this car drives well. The gearbox does have a whine, however the synchro’s work fine.

1750 Berlina’s are quite rare and with some finishing this would be a nice driver’s car in solid and useable condition.
