1969 Alfa Romeo 1750 Berlina

Sale Price: SOLD

This is a wonderful example of a true ‘survivor’ and in fantastic original condition. These Series 1 Berlina’s are rare cars and to find one in this original state is a real find. They were created as fine driving executive cars and this example will not disappoint.

This 1969 1750 Berlina is an original Australian delivery and our car has been known to us for some time and we are advertising on behalf of our client. Prior to his ownership it remained in the same family since new. It has a complete set of original sales records including the receipts from Alec Mildren in NSW denoting its sale to the first owner Mr Kenneth Owens of Ryde NSW on 21st of February 1969.

Incredibly the car still has its original factory shipping tag confirming transit to Sydney along with its service book and owner’s manual. Its original keys also accompany the car.

As you would expect it has its original and matching number 1750 engine producing 116 bhp with the aid of its twin Webers it is in fine health. The engine number is documented in the sales receipts along with other details including key numbers and serial numbers.

The body is in fine condition with no corrosion. It has had some paintwork in the past and there are some imperfections which you would expect from a car of this age. The manufacturers paint code decals are still applied under the boot lid and the panel gaps are spot on and look factory correct.

The boot floor is in excellent condition as is the fuel tank and spare wheel well. The boot has had new lining fitted in place of the original.

All the stainless steel brightwork is in wonderful order and sets the car off beautifully. The wheels show their factory finish.

The interior of the car is just lovely, with everything as it should be. The original steering wheel greets you and the dash and dials are something that just looks perfect to the eye.

The original dash is in perfect condition and amazingly has no cracks at all. The instruments are clear and like new. The odometer currently reads 98,000kms and whilst we cannot verify this, the condition of the car suggests this is likely to be correct.

The seats have their original black vinyl coverings are have no signs of wear and they are comfortable and supportive which is what you would expect from a car designed to cater for the executive market. The head lining is original and shows age related blemishes but could be cleaned. As you would expect from a car of this originality there are many detail fittings that all too often get lost or replaced during restorations.

Turn the key and the engine fires up to a familiar Alfa growl. The 1750 engine is widely regarded as Alfa Romeo’s best and out on the open road this car is just superb. The gearbox is excellent, it is accurate, smooth and quick to work through the gears and using it is quite addictive. The engine is responsive and pulls very well. The brakes and suspension are spot on too. The engine bay is clean  with a new battery recently fitted.

These are great driver’s cars and we can see why they are so sought after. 1750 Berlina’s are rare and finding a Series one and in this unrestored condition is rarer still.  The car is serviced, on the button and ready to go. As they say they are only original once and here is a great opportunity to acquire a period correct and wonderful Alfa Romeo.
